The above sketch of a tree is a map of events and notes in Daphna up until the last section in which the melodic material that takes a background to the textural material up until this point comes into the foreground. Daphna is named after the mythical nymph who turned herself into a Laurel Tree to escape from the affections of the god Apollo.
Daphna was premiered by Richard Watkins, Huw Watkins & Alexandra Wood in the David Josefowitz Recital Hall, and performed again by Mathilde Milwidsky, Jonathan Farey & Michael Leach at the Forge, Camden.
