First written for recorder, this violin version of Caffeine was commissioned, premiered, and recorded by Fenella Humphries.
Caffeine was originally written for solo recorder, while on an overnight plane and unable to sleep after having had too much caffeine. Fenella came to the premiere and afterwards she asked if I’d thought about a version for solo violin, which, after a few more twists and turns, is how this playful little rondo-caprice came to be.
